One Month left in Chicago

Ok. Blogging. Never done this before, and have no idea if anyone will read this or not. So, if you are reading right now, GOOD JOB! You get a gold star.

The last seven months have been a crazy whirlwind for me, and thats an understatement. In October 2008 I picked up and moved from NYC to Chicago, just in time for the atrocious winter to start. After a couple months of non-lucrative table-waiting (thank you economy) I started rehearsals for MARY POPPINS.

POPPINS being my first full-scale Broadway-style show, I was obviously pumped. My first day of rehearsal was surreal. I was surrounded by Broadway stars and creative giants in this huge Chicago rehearsal space. I just kept thinking to myself, "This is CRAZY." I'm not gonna lie, I was also thinking "FINALLY." I mean, this was the culmination of all my hard work over the last 9 years! OK, now I get a gold star.

Every day from rehearsals, to tech, to opening, to now has been a sincere pleasure. This group of people I'm working with are the most loving, generous, genuine group I've ever worked with... which is RARE in the theatre community. Lets face it, some theatre people are real A**holes, but we lucked out here. TRULY.

There are 4 weeks left in Chicago, and so much still to do. Tonight is our benefit cabaret (proceeds go to Chicago's own About Face Theatre). I was the benefit-planner so I'm really looking forward to it being an awesome show! Then its time for packing, driving, flying, friends, NYC, and finally TOUR (not necessarily in that order). I am thrilled to get on the road, and am really excited to blog about my adventures. After all, a "schwa" is small and fits in anywhere... just imagine the fun stuff I'm going to get into! Peace y'all.
